Moose killed in vehicle collision

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a moose-vehicle collision late Monday on Pitts Memorial Drive.

According to police, the collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. near Weirs Construction.

The RNC says there was moderate damage to the vehicle and the moose was dead at the scene, but there were no human injuries reported.

Also Monday, around 12:15 p.m., the RNC was called to a St. John’s business. where a 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with theft and breach of a court order.

 At 1 p.m., as a result of a traffic stop in Conception Bay South, a 55-year-old man was charged with driving without a licence, registration or insurance. He also had more than $7,200 in fines. The man’s vehicle was impounded.
