The driver of a fuel tanker sustained minor injuries Tuesday when his vehicle overturned on Noel’s Road in Upper Island Cove Tuesday.

The Trinity Conception RCMP says the tanker was carrying about 6,000 liters of furnace oil.

According to police, the vehicle was travelling down a small hill when the driver lost control.  The truck went through a guardrail and landed at the bottom of a small embankment.  A small leak was caused by damage to the tank. The fuel spill was controlled by the local fire department.

The driver was transported to the Carbonear Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
