Western Health is advising the public that visitation restrictions are in place on the fourth floor (Partridgeberry Place) at the Corner Brook long-term care home.

The health authority says the visitation restriction is in place due to a number of residents with influenza-like illness.

Western Health said in a news release it would like to ask for the public’s co-operation during this temporary visitation restriction.  Exceptions may be made in extenuating circumstances for immediate family members. However, they are asked to contact the unit directly before attempting to visit.

To prevent the spread of infection, the health authority is also asking all visitors to wash/sanitize their hands when entering or leaving any of its facilities.

People who have any influenza like symptoms including cough, fever, runny nose, and headache are asked to refrain from visiting. People with any of these symptoms should rest at home, drink fluids, practice proper hand washing with water and soap and, if the symptoms persist, contact their physician.

Western Health says it would like to thank families and visitors for their co-operation in helping prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
