Hoping that if you have power and your neighbour doesn't, you have stretched some extension cords across the road et al. Or have given them some hot water or a place to warm up!

Re the airport authority statement 'closed since Thursday evening because of the storm and snowfall accumulation exceeding 50 centimetres'. What a crock!!!! Heard the same spokeswoman on CBC radio realier today stating it was a record snowfall' i.e. 50cm. She should check her facts. A 50 cm snowfall is not unheard off around here. Just 6 or 7 years ago we that or more and the Airport wasn't shut down for 21/2 days..All who travel through there know the problem. Until such time when they have a board with people who are knowledgeable of airplanes, runways, and aviation in general, we are pretty much at the mercy of incompetents .. I have been around airports for near 50 years and never seen the like of this length of closure.. Poeple of St. John's wake up..
