Pedestrian injured on St. John's street

A 44-year-old man was struck by an eastbound vehicle on LeMarchant Road in St. John's Monday night.

According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, the accident occurred around 11:45 p.m.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance and is being treated for his injuries which are believed to be non-life-threatening.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Also overnight, as a result of a traffic stop, a 57-year-old man was issued a seven-day driving suspension with tickets issued for driving while already having a suspended license, no insurance and no vehicle registration.

The vehicle was impounded.

Around 8 p.m., a 19-year-old female and 21-year-old man were charged with assault, arising from a disturbance on Raleigh Street in St. John's.

Both were released from custody to appear in court at a later date.
