A 17-year-old male resident of Deer Lake has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana and breach of a recognizance under the Youth Criminal Justice.
The charges stem from a search of a vehicle in Deer Lake Monday afternoon by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary/RCMP joint force street level drug team after police received information that drug dealing was happening near the high school in Deer Lake.
Police seized approximately 80 grams of what is believed to be marijuana, as well as electronic digital scales and other drug paraphernalia during the search.
The 17-year-old was held in custody overnight and will be appearing in provincial court in Corner Brook today.
