The Telegram website offers only a sample of the stories our reporters, editors and photographers work hard to get to the public every day.

Wednesday’s full edition of The Telegram, on the other hand, contains much, much more, from news to opinion to our expanded Business section.

• Influenza has hit this province early and hard, according to Eastern Health’s medical officer of health.

“It’s come earlier. it seems to have spread very rapidly through the population,” says Dr. David Allison,

• St. John’s lawyer Bob Buckingham announced Tuesday he is launching a class-action lawsuit against the federal government for a security breach resulting in the loss of information of 583,000 Canadians. He’d already had 7,000 of those affected contact him by Tuesday afternoon, Buckingham said. “We’ve been swamped with calls, primarily from Newfoundland, but all across the country,” he said.

• In less than six months, if the government doesn’t sign a new agreement with Qatar hundreds of employees at the College of the North Atlantic campus there could be out of work. Nobody really knows what’s going on, but employees — many from this province — are getting worried.

“As of July 2nd everyone is out of work and out of the country,” said one employee, who spoke to The Telegram via email on the condition of anonymity.
