The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Drug Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate a report of a woman being drugged in the downtown area of St. John’s.

On Sunday, shortly after 2 a.m., the RNC says it received a report of an individual who may have had something put in their drink while out Saturday evening.

A St. John's woman has been speaking publicly in media reports about suddenly taking ill in a downtown bar after taking a sip of a drink. Her friends took her home and called paramedics to assist her.

The RNC says it's continuing an investigation into this incident. Anyone who may have witnessed or has information in relation to this incident is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). People can also provide anonymous information on the N.L. Crime Stoppers Website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.

The RNC is reminding people who feel they may have been unknowingly administered a drug to seek medical treatment and report the incident to police.

The RNC says it's committed to public safety and through the reporting of such incidents it will better enable the RNC to effectively address the issue.
