The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), Labrador City detachment, has arrested and charged a 23-year-old man in connection with an assault Thursday in the area of Cavendish Crescent in Labrador west.

The man has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. He was held in custody until a court appearance.

Police say shortly before midnight Thursday, RNC officers and ambulance attendants from Capt. William Jackman Memorial Hospital responded to an incident in which a 34-year-old

Labrador City resident was conveyed to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The RNC is continuing to investigate this assault and would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
