(Earlier story)

The Lyubov Orlova is finally leaving St. John’s harbour.

Workers are in the process of removing mooring lines to the ship and tugboats are getting in position to pull the ship from the dock. It's bound for the Dominican Republic and will be towed there by the tugboat Charlene Hunt.

The ship was scheduled to leave on Tuesday but the storm put those plans on hold.

The ship, which was once owned by Russian-based Locso Shipping, was chartered by the Canadian company Cruise North Expeditions Inc. for adventure tourism trips to the Canadian Arctic. Canadian officials placed the ship under arrest when it arrived in St. John's on Sept. 27, 2010, because the owner of the ship owes Cruise North $250,000.
