The RNC is advising the public that its new telephone system will go live about 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

A news release notes renovations to the RNC telephone system were designed to make the system more consistent with communication industry standards. The service will help to properly route the incoming calls so that they can be more effectively disseminated thus enhancing police response.

This change over will occur at approximately 9:30 a.m. Thursday and will involve a telephone blackout period of about 1–2 minutes. 911 will still be available during this time.

The numbers listed in the telephone directory have not changed and the main number for the RNC is still 729-8000 — eventually the number 729-8333 will be phased out.
