Power and absolute power. They (the honourable people we elected) are going to do things like this until they implode from the high they are on. No real opposition and total secrecy is their drug of choice.

Is it mandatory to have the surname Williams to poke around the premier's office? In what capacity was Ed serving in? was he paid? how much? when was the position advertised? were there any restrictions? or, did he have carte blanche access? fess up please if you have any info. A long list of Tory patronage appointments made public this week; Ross got his plum, Ed gets his, and so on. It's not who you know, but who you.....

If Ed Williams has been "at the Premier's Office", but not listed as a Governement employee, what's he doing ... volunteering ? Barbara C., you are certainly correct. And I'm sure Danny Jr. is in some big job somewhere that his father made available to him with a huge taxpayers' salary. Danny Sr. will always run this Povince one way or another.

I wonder what would we find out if media outlets poked around a little and asked questions down at the CNLOPB to staff and management on their take on these political patronage appointments. It undermines professionalism and credibility. I'll bet that long-time, hard working, qualified persons at the Board are appalled when they're passed over for promotions and tasked to inform and bring up to speed another batch of appointees. Sadly, they too are tarred and feathered by public distain to these cushy appointments and their efforts are marginalized by virtue of association.

Truth is indeed stranger than fiction. The PC Party Government in NfLd is fascinating. Absolutely fascinating. Hardly a day goes by when there’s not some jaw-dropping drama from the people in charge of all our money. If not for the terrible waste, they would be as entertaining as any common week-day TV soap opera. Whatever the storyline will be next week shall remain a mystery until Monday. Maybe they’ll start up the biggest business ever at the public’s expense. Oh right. They’ve already done that one. Oh Well. Wait and see. All we know for sure is that whatever they’re up to; in the end, it’s always the public who must pay the price. LOL
- Does Nothing

This appointment does nothing to dispell the wide spread belief that the CNLOPB has become nothing more than a dumping ground for political patronage appointees, loyal to the Conservative Parties and pandering to big oil.

Every single board member is either a brother of, bagman of, or staffer of, a federal Tory Minister or Little Tyrant Dan. No engineering expertise. Not a single lawyer on a regulatory board with powers of a court. Barely a handful of bachelor of arts degrees between them. This is how many third world countries operate.

They will soon settle in and start to rape our province by allowing fracking in Port au Port Bay and up by Gros Morne Park.

@ uglistick.....it's who you not what you know. Isn't that true in all of our daily lives? We all get through on that premise.

You'd think there would be a nepotism clause in Bill 29... but alas no. Newfoundland Politics...sigh... same ol' school garbage,.. it's who you know, not what you know.

“Today’s decision results from a cooperative and thorough search ... from our list of patronage appointments in waiting. A collective upchuck can be heard throughout the province.

Danny was determined to get someone close to him on that board. Now he can use his brother as his mouthpiece. Money talks.

This has turned the cnlopb into an even bigger joke. What's next Danny Jr gonna be put on the board as well?

Danny jr. is paid very well to do nothing and cause no trouble.
