Youth subject of investigation into threat against school

The RCMP is currently investigating threats made against the Holy Cross School in Holyrood.

Avalon East District RCMP received the complaint on Tuesday and it is being investigated by members of the Holyrood detachment, as well as the general investigation section for the Avalon East District.

Police say they have identified a 17-year-old youth from the local area as the subject of their investigation and at this time, the level of threat to the school and community is considered low with all appropriate steps being taken to ensure public safety.

Consultation is ongoing between the police, the school board, and the family of the young person under investigation. This is to ensure every facet of this matter has been identified and fully investigated.

Eastern School District is aware and is fully co-operating with the investigation into the allegations.
