I would like to be the judge for these so-called people......there would be no mercy
- January 31, 2013 - 17:34
Charges are being considered? Come on... this is a no brainer. How else to you expect all the other people in this province who don't give a shit about their pets to get a clue. I honestly don't know what I would've done had I been the one to witness this. It enrages me to no end. And for those people out there who turned their heads so as to not stir the pot in their community, would you do the same if you saw a child being abused?? Grow a set! Who cares about those people or how they feel about it.

It doesnt cost much money to provide an decent shelter for an animal. I use my Setter for hunting and she sleeps in our house. If your dog is an outside dog than an insulated house with a 60 watt ligh tbulb will provide warm against cold temperatures. There is no excuse for this happening, if its too cold outside for a human with cloths on than its too cold for most dogs, especially those not breed for cold weather.
- January 28, 2013 - 21:13
These dogs are not "pets", they are just tools used for hunting. In the minds of some hunters they don't even qualify to get a name. Why bother to give a hunting dog a name. There is no emotional attachment. It is not uncommon for a beagle to have several owners in its lifetime. They are traded around from one hunter to another. It is a sad life.

God bless those poor animals. I hope their former owners rot. I hope they suffer as their dogs did.
- January 28, 2013 - 20:43
you cannot FIX STUPID . People who don,t have enough |godd@#$ sense to know a dog,a warm blooded animal can freeze to death. These were not huskies, they were beagles, a short hair breed. Until some dingbat serves serious time for animal abuse ,this cruelty will continue. The first step should be to ban the use of dogs for rabbit running or hunting.

What is with us human beings? what is there not to understand??..cold temperatures..if is cold for us, it is cold for animals..with the knowledge and know of this day and age..there is abosolutely no need and inexcusible to have animals suffering and neglected..the people responsible should be treated with the harshes of penalties...the story and reprecussions of neglect need to be addressed and lets get the message out there..this is not to continue...With animals as humans , comes responsiblity!!!.

Volunteer - you ask why. This is Newfoundland where Beagles and other hunting dogs are just a commodity like a tent or sleeping bag. Just look around where they are tied up for 10 months+ in small pens or leads, thrown a meal and water until it freezes and then come Rabbit Season or Bird Season are run to death after no exercise all year. If they don't hunt then destroy them. Sad!
- January 29, 2013 - 08:11
Again and Again- pleasedon't brand all hunters with this mentality. We have three setters- two are great hunters-one is not. All three have a large fenced area, as well as a supremely insulated dog house. That being said, they live in our house, and sleep on the foot of our bed. The only time they are not regularly run on the barrens, is when this is banned during the time when birds are rearing their young. as we have no wish to destroy the resource that we love. These dogs are truly part of our family, and good hunters or not, they are well loved and cared for.
- January 28, 2013 - 17:18
There are so many cases here like this...stupid ppl use dogs/Beagles for their hunting and selfish purposes then when not in use throw them to one side like garbage....YES hunting dogs CAN be pets as well...get a clue. Shame on you. Also, if there was some authority designated to deal with these neglect/abuse issues it probably wouldn't be too late for these some of these animals and their suffering wouldn't be prolonged. :(
- January 28, 2013 - 15:59
it's like people forget that beagles are pets and need heat and shelter as well as any other dog their don't just live to hunt
- January 28, 2013 - 15:17
The owner of these animals needs to spend a frosty night in the same shelter he/she provided for the dogs. There is no excuse for this cruel act! However, in our haste to protect animals we have also lost sight of protection of humans. Some pet owners not only exhibit a careless attitude towards their pets but also towards their neighbourhood children. The let their dogs roam free unleashed and unthetered. Those same owners are held accountable for being careless when it comes to the protection of their pets but the SPCA or the RCMP or municipal officials turn a blind eye to a pet owner who endangers the lives of our children by allowing their pets to roam free. Why is that? Why does our provincial and municipal officials, the RCMP and groups like the SPCA leave no stone unturned when an pet owner puts his/her pet in a perrilious situation but ignores the same pet owner when he/she puts childern at risk by allowing the pet to roam free. Even though it is a violation of animal control laws, why is the pet owner not charged when that law is violated? Maybe it will be the next time a child is mauled or worse?
- January 28, 2013 - 14:56
This is absolutely unacceptable, this person should be charged and their name should also be published once charges have been laid. The treatment of beagles in this province is riduclous, when are people going to learn. To all of you losers who leave your pets outside in inadequate conditions you are pathetic.
- really concerned
- January 28, 2013 - 14:29
This is so sad, they don't deserve to have "cockroaches" let alone dogs, they should be charged and their ugly pictures posted up for all the world to see how mean and cruel they are. They should be banned from ever owning a pet for the rest of their life, our laws for animal cruelty are ridicilous, should be stiffer pentalies, zero tolerance.
- January 28, 2013 - 14:13
How could someone leave a dog outside to die in the extreme cold? That is so heartless!!! I hope these people get the book thrown at them for being so cruel. My God if you don't want an animal, call the SPCA or take it and have it put down. Don't let it die a horrible death!!!! This just breaks my heart :(

- January 28, 2013 - 17:12
When are you people going to realize how cruel and heartless it is to abuse animals? The amount of Fur on an animal WILL NOT keep it warm in winter and the temperatures have been extremely frigid recently! I hope your names will be made public..that is the very least I can hope for! What ever happened to the age-old adage "Mans Best Friend" Heartbroken Again!
- January 28, 2013 - 18:48
They are considering laying charges? There was no consideration for those two little dogs , leaving them in the freezing cold.I agree with "Volunteer" through the book at them, they should have known better, there is no excuse for that kind of neglect.

This makes me so angry...why do people do this to their pets....if you don't want them ,bring them to a shelter or find a good home for them...do not neglect them and treat them like garbage....these or this person should be punished to the fullest and then put out in the snow bank naked....see how long they last before the perish.....just my opinion.
