Curtis Robert Hickey was sentenced to two years and five months in prison today for armed robbery and theft at the Ultramar gas station on Blackmarsh Road in St. John’s on Dec. 3, 2012.

Video surveillance shows the 23-year-old wearing a hat and bandana to cover his face when he walked into the gas station and demanded cash from the male clerk before running away. The clerk was not injured.

Hickey had previously pleaded guilty to the charges.

In provincial court today, Judge Greg Brown said he hoped Hickey would avail of any counselling and education programs while in prison and that he’d “get a handle on all that and lead a productive life.”
