A search is on for a missing hunter in the Bay St. George area.

The 50-year-old man left his residence after 8 a.m. Monday to go duck hunting and was expected back at 5 p.m. When he failed to return, his family contacted the Bay St. George District RCMP about 6:15 p.m.

Local search and rescue has been actively searching throughout the night with the assistance of a helicopter from Gander's 103 Squadron. A civilian helicopter was brought in this morning and is now involved in the search.

I will never understand the press. A person goes missing, and you tell us, but you never post a picture or a name! Maybe I saw him this morning, burt how was I supposed to know that he was missing? Explain!

The police have not provided a photograph or released the missing hunter's name. If we receive such information, we would report it.
