RCMP investigating break and enters in Lewisporte

The RCMP is investigating three break, enter and thefts from three businesses on Main Street in Lewisport, which occurred late Monday night or early this morning.

Upon arriving to work this morning, employees of the Family Resource Centre, Employee Assistance Services and Family Medical Clinic discovered their buildings had been forcibly entered and small amounts of cash taken.

RCMP Lewisporte and RCMP Forensic Identification Section members are currently investigating the scenes for evidence.

Police are requesting members of the public who may have observed any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area to contact RCMP Lewisporte at (709) 535-8637 or to contact Crime Stoppers.

What will it be like when tourism season starts? Crime is getting worse and if tourists start losing things, they won't come back. A few years ago in a private park, a camper nearby lost his generator. A couple came in next to me and I thought they were new campers. They stole the generator and I heard they were trouble in the past. If this gets out of hand with tourists, they won't be back.
