RCMP in Sheshatshiu are investigating an alleged domestic assault on a 28-year-old woman in that Labrador town early this morning.

According to police, officers responded to a complaint shortly after midnight. The initial investigation determined the woman was in a residence with her boyfriend when a disagreement occurred. It’s alleged the 25-year-old man began to assault her.

The RCMP said the victim was held in the residence for a short period of time against her will, but managed to escape the residence and flee to a neighboring residence and call for police assistance.

Police say the suspect in this incident has not been located and the RCMP are actively searching for the suspect who is known to police. The injuries to the victim were non-life threatening.
