Man charged with aggravated sexual assault

A 32-year-old St. John’s man has been charged with aggravated sexual assault following an early morning incident at a residence in the west end of St. John’s.

A female victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and was treated and released.

The RNC says the accused and the victim were known to each other.

About 2:30 a.m. today, RNC patrol officers, members of the criminal investigation division and the forensic identification services responded to a disturbance at the residence.

The accused was arrested and held in custody for an appearance in provincial court today.
