RCMP in Sheshatshiu, Labrador are investigating an alleged assault on a woman with a full case of beer and broken beer bottle.

Police say a complaint was received Thursday around 11:05 a.m. from a person who claimed to have witnessed the assault on Jan. 25.

The RCMP said an investigation revealed that a 43-year-old woman and her 45-year-old husband had a disagreement at which time the man allegedly struck the woman in the head with a full case of beer and then proceeded to strike her with a broken beer bottle, cutting her head.

A man was subsequently arrested Thursday afternoon and was held for a bail hearing in Happy Valley-Goose Bay today.

He's facing a charge of assault with a weapon and three charges of breaching court orders. The RCMP said injuries sustained by the victim were minor in nature and consumption of alcohol is believed to be a factor in this assault.
