A 50-year-old man from Postville, Labrador, has been given a 28-day jail sentence and one-year probation for uttering threats in relation to a complaint RCMP received Tuesday that a local teacher had been threatened by a resident in the community.

Postville RCMP said in a news release, the man allegedly made threats to burn down the teacher's home. "These threats had affected the entire community and some residents refused to send their children to school," the release said.

As a result,  the man was arrested and taken to Happy Valley-Goose Bay to appear in provincial court. He pleaded "guilty" today to the charge of uttering threats.
