Teen charged with assault with weapon

A 17-year-old female was arrested Sunday and charged with assault with a weapon, mischief and assault.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the charges arose from a disturbance reported in a Mount Pearl home around 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

The teenager was detained by police until a court appearance.

Around 9 p.m., a 30-year-old man was charged with two counts of assault relating to a disturbance at a George Street night club. He was held in custody until a court appearance.

Around 1:05 a.m. today, the RNC also responded to a break and entry into an east end residence.

Police say it's alleged several suspects entered the home and one resident reported he was assaulted in the incident.

RNC patrol members are being assisted by the Criminal investigation and forensic identification divisions and K-9 unit. The matter is still under investigation.
