UPDATE: Traffic collision closes TCH near Clarenville

The RCMP has advised that the Trans-Canada Highway west of Clarenville has reopened and traffic is now moving in the area.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway about 3.8kms west of Clarenville, were closed earlier this morning due to a vehicle collision in the area. Crews were at the scene to remove a vehicle involved in the accident.

The Clarenville RCMP said they would like to thank motorists for their patience.

Roads in the area are water covered from heavy rainfall. Police are asking drivers to use caution, reduce speed and drive for the road conditions.

Clarenville RCMP officers are currently at the scene of a vehicle collision about 3.8 kms west of Clarenville on the Trans-Canada Highway near Manitoba Drive.

Police are asking motorists to drive with caution when approaching this area as there are numerous emergency vehicles and personnel on scene. There is also a significant amount of water on the road so drivers are advised to reduce their speed.
