Happy Valley-Goose Bay man facing assault charges

A 53-year-old man from Happy Valley-Goose Bay is facing several charges in connection wtih an alleged assault on his 29-year-old female partner Monday night.

RCMP responded to a complaint of domestic violence in the town around 8:15 p.m. Monday. Police say the couple was in an argument in front of an eight-year-old child when the alleged assault occurred.

The man was arrested and held for a bail hearing today in Happy Valley-Goose Bay provincial court.

He faces charges including assault, choking, uttering threats against a person and against property.

The RCMP said the woman received minor injuries.
