Of course it's an expensive, useless, pompous, class-driven office... but 'tis grand to see a mature white guy get ahead for a change.

I'm sure he's a nice guy and all of that but really, it's time to drop all of this play acting and get down to some serious cost control.

The rich get richer as Lt. Governor.....doing nothing. Obviously, this useless position with its huge house, cars, staff, and humongous piece of land, and total waste of taxpayers' money, is going to stay, so the NL citizens should be able to vote for Lt. Governor. Who the heck does Stephen Harper, or any other previous Prime Minister, know about these people, other than they are wealthy? It''s certainly way overdue for a woman to be in this position.

I am so disappointed that a woman was not given this position. It's still a male dominated society that we live in and Harper missed the boat on this one. Yesterday evening on CBC, Ted Blades read a list of names of so many accomplished women who have done so much for this province. I feel many of them are not looking for recognition of any kind because, in typical women fashion, they just do what they are passionate about, for that reason only. It would be unfair to mention any one of them, because in their own unique way their contribution has been significant. Surely, it is way past the time that a femal appointee can bring such a fresh perspective to this office. Very disappointing, to say the least.

To begin with, Frank has to learn to STAND when he shakes hands with people, and show an interest in what they are saying.

Just goes to show how ignorant and pompous he is. A real hypocrite

Frank is one of those people that you if you bought him for what he is worth and sold him for what he thinks he is worth, you'd make a whole lot money.

That is probably the dumbest comment I have ever read. It's no wonder the rest of the country/world thinks that Newfoundlanders are short a few chromosomes. Please don't make any more comments, you are bringing the rest of us down.

What an affront to democracy -Lieutenant Govenors and Senators - who elected these people to these useless positions. Do the honorable thing and not accept the position Fagan.

I like to know why do people who held high profile jobs always get these positions, there is never anyone who just worked a basic job ever get appointed, and there are lots out there who can hold a position like this. The governor should be voted in by the people of Nl and Labrador not Stephen Harper. And why not a woman for the job.

You mean to tell me that in all of Newfoundland Labrador, we could not find anyone more suited to this job that Frank Fagan? Oh..please, give me a break.
