Residents of communities on the Northern Peninsula that have been without electricity since Monday evening will likely experience rotating outages into Thursday, according to Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro.
Approximately 500 Hydro customers in L’anse Aux Meadows, Hay Cove, Gunners Cove, Noddy Bay, Straightsview, St. Lunaire-Griquet and Quirpon remained without power as of Wednesday afternoon.
The outage relates to damage caused by heavy winds. Crews were continuing efforts to repair equipment and restore power on Wednesday.
In a news release, Hydro said if power is restored, it will be rotated among customers in intervals of two-to-three hours at a time. It said that arrangement would likely continue into Thursday until full repairs are completed to stabilize the system.
A new outage occurred Tuesday evening in St. Carol's and Great Brehat due to high winds. Power was restored in those communities by 9 a.m., according to Hydro.
