The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit arrested a 22-year-old Bay St. George man Tuesday after pursuing a stolen vehicle.
According to police, RNC patrol officers, Criminal Investigation Division and K-9 Services members were involved in the arrest around 7 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Mount Carson Avenue in Mount Pearl.
The RNC said the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Mount Pearl Area on Jan. 30. When police stopped the vehicle, the driver fled in the vehicle from the area, striking an unmarked police vehicle in the process.
An adult male passenger and youth female passenger were detained at the scene. The driver fled the area on foot but was later apprehended by K-9 Services.
The accused was transported by police to hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. The RNC saud ge remains in hospital at this time. The suspect faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, mischief, assaulting a police officer with a weapon, breach of a court order and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
