Man sentenced to 22 months on drug-related charges

Joseph Strickland, 33, of Marystown was sentenced to 22 months in prison Tuesday after being found guilty on drug-related charges.

Strickland, of Smallwood Crescent in Marystown, was arrested March 3, 2012, after the RCMP seized a quantity of Ecstasy, cocaine and marijuana from his residence.

Strickland, who was in custody since his arrest, was found guilty at trial on drug charges, breaching court order charges and resisting arrest.

    This is about the same sentence that's been handed out for rape in the media over the last little while. Someone tell me how this is a just punishment. The government and big pharma push all kinds of drugs but God help us if a normal person does it. The production of all drugs should be controlled and regulated. This is absurd. It's someone elses body, not yours. Stop handing out sentences for this non-sense you're wasting our money.
