A 47-year-old man was arrested early this morning in downtown St. John's and charged with malicious damage, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and breach of court orders.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary received a report around 1 a.m. of a person causing damage at a night club on George Street.

The suspect was held in custody until a court appearance.

A woman in her early 20s was also arrested Wednesday night and is facing two counts of assault and a breach of a court order.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the charges stem from a complaint around 11:30 p.m. of a disturbance at a home in Mount Pearl in which one person received minor injuries.

The accused was held in custody until a court appearance today.

Around 3 a.m. today, a traffic stop in the MacDonald Drive area resulted in a 42-year-old man being arrested for impaired driving.

The RNC said further investigation revealed that the driver was also driving the vehicle while under suspension, the vehicle was not registered and didn't have insurance.

The vehicle was impounded and the accused was held in custody until a court appearance.
