The RNC has arrested and charged a man in relation to the theft from Bogarts Jewelry Store in the Avalon Mall in St. John’s, after releasing a surveillance video of a suspect today.
The 26-year-old St. John’s man is facing charges of theft over $5,000 and breach of a court order. He is being held in custody for a court appearance.

The RNC is requesting the assistance of the general public in identifying the person responsible for a theft from Bogarts Jewelry Store in the Avalon Mall in St. John’s on Feb. 5.
About 1:20 p.m. that day, officers from RNC street patrol and forensic identification responded to the scene.
A male suspect (as seen in the video, CLICK HERE) reached over the glass and grabbed a quantity of jewelry from the glass display case before fleeing the area on foot.
No injuries were sustained and no weapons are believed to have been used during the commission of this offence. At the time of the offence the male suspect is described as wearing a red jacket, black baseball hat and grey jogging pants.
The RNC Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to investigate. Anyone who has information that would assist in identifying the person responsible or anyone who may have any information in relation to this crime is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). The RNC is also issuing a reminder that any person in possession of stolen property can be charged.
