Two student passengers and the driver of a school bus involved in a collision in Mount Pearl this afternoon were transported to hospital with injuries believed to be minor in nature, the RNC says.
The bus, carrying 38 students from St. Peter’s Junior High, collided with a sport utility vehicle shortly before 3 p.m. at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Smallwood Drive. Both vehicles received moderate damages.
Some parents came to the scene to pick their children up while the others were picked up by a second bus called to the scene..
Traffic was snarled at the intersection due to the accident.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is still ongoing.
The RNC is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the accident or were in the immediate area to contact police. The RNC and highway patrol officers are on the scene of a school bus-vehicle accident in Mount Pearl this afternoon.
The bus was filled with children being bused home from school. There appears to be no injuries in the accident.
The bus and sport utility vehicle collided on the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Smallwood Drive. Both vehicles received moderate damages.
Some parents had arrived at the scene to take their children home, while a second school bus arrived retrieve the remaining students.
