RNC seeks witnesses to motor vehicle collision in Labrador

The RNC is seeking the assistance of the public in relation to a motor vehicle collision that occurred shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday on Route 500 between Labrador City and Fermont, Que.

The collision involved a truck and a car.

The car had four occupants (two females and two males). The two male occupants sought medical treatment in Fermont, were treated and released. The two females remain in hospital at this time. One of the females sustained serious injuries and was transported by air from Wabush to Quebec City for treatment.

The driver and lone occupant of the truck went to hospital, was treated and released.

The investigation into the collision caused the roadway to be closed for several hours to protect evidence in relation to the collision and to allow for the safe investigation into the cause. The RNC has received assistance from the Sûreté du Québec. The RNC was also assisted in the road closure by Highway Enforcement officers from the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Service NL.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or were in the immediate area is asked to contact police. Anyone who has any information in relation to the collision is asked to contact the RNC at 709-944-7602 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can also provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com

RNC Patrol Services along with Labrador City Fire Department, Ambulance services from Captain William Jackman Memorial and Ambulance services from Fermont Quebec had responded to the accident.
