RNC kept busy on the northeast Avalon

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in the northeast Avalon received 106 calls overnight Friday.

Shortly after midnight, the RNC responded to a report of a hit and run at the intersection of Barters Hill and Central Street.  The run vehicle was located a short time afterwards, abandoned on Tessier Place. There was extensive damage to both vehicles. The female operator of the hit vehicle went to hospital for examination. The run vehicle was impounded.  Police say the investigation is ongoing.

An 18-year-old male was arrested following a disturbance on George Street in the early morning hours. Charges include obstruction, resisting arrest and two counts of assaulting a police officer. An RNC member was bitten during the altercation, but did not require medical attention. The accused was scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.

At approximately 3 a.m. Saturday, a 29 year-old-male was arrested in the area of Glenhill Plaza Mount Pearl. He was charged with impaired driving and failing the breathalyzer.  He was released to appear in court at a later date.

At approximately 9:45 p.m. Friday, RNC received a report of a possible impaired driver in the Paradise area.  RNC members were able to locate the vehicle and as a result, a 56 year old woman was charged with impaired driving and failing the breathalyzer.  She was released to appear in court at a later date.

At approximately 2 a.m. Saturday, police were called regarding a possible missing person. During the course of the investigation, a 16-year-old youth allegedly assaulted a police officer. He was scheduled to appear in court Saturday morning.
