Police in GFW make impaired driving arrests

Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP made a pair of arrests in the community over the weekend related to allegations of impaired driving.

According to a news release issued Sunday afternoon, a 56-year-old man was arrested after he was allegedly found to have a blood-alcohol level more than threes-times the legal limit.

Police were conducting a patrol near the Exploits Valley Mall early Saturday evening when an officer noticed a parked vehicle in front of a liquor store was stalling and moving in reverse.

The driver is facing charges of impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and impaired care and control of a motor vehicle while exceeding the legal blood-alcohol limit.

Early Sunday morning, police stopped a vehicle as part of a routine traffic stop. A 20-year-old male is facing charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving while exceeding the legal blood-alcohol limit.

Both men were released and are scheduled to appear in court on April 10, according to the RCMP.
