DFO to hold seal information sessions

There was a news clip on NTV that showed seals hunting like a pack of wolves in a small cove on the island, where people were picking up cod fish on the beach like caplin that were driven upon the beach by a heard of seals, The people that filmed this said that the bottom of this small cove was 3 to 4 feet deep with dead fish with their bellies torn out , It is said the seals eat the fishes livers ? Another fisherman told me of hauling up a crab pot to find a seal stuck in the pot and drowned while trying to get at the crab, the crab in the pot had the head eaten off the dead seal There are millions of hungry starving seals destroying cod stock, salmon,trout and even the cod stock is infested with cod worm, a worm picked up by the cod that came from the seals NO! Seals are not cute little cuddly creatures they are like rats of the ocean they are destroying the largest food source in the world the Northern Cod Stock and they have to be put under control, Its seals that is causing problems with the fish, Its rabbits causing problems with farms in Austraiia and new Zealand , look under Austraiia rabbit problem

@ John......you are so misinformed. There is only one control for the seal population and that's Mother Nature. We have upset that balance by our taking of cod for hundreds of years. Considering seals and cod lived in perfect harmony for thousands of years, you need to look at what actually changed. More cod, more seals, less cod, less seals...Mother Nature balances it out. Sometimes we need to look in the mirror. The blame is solely man's.

All the troubles in the seal fishery is due in most part by the Federal Government and their monitoring system,with the population increasing there should be no restrictions on the seal hunt especially the inshore and individuals licenses. Why worry about individuals killing a seal or two for their own use. The way the fishery officers police the inshore hunt you would,nt know but everyone is a criminal.We need to get rid of as many seals as we can so they would not be able to destroy the cod stock. The same way with the darn Cayotes which eat all of the youg birds rabbits etc.
