Newfoundland musician Amelia Curran has a chance at winning a second Juno Award.
Curran is among this year's nominees for Roots and Traditional Album of the Year: Solo.
Her latest album "Spectators" was released this past fall on Six Shooter Records, Warner.
Curran received her first Juno Award for Roots and Traditional Album of the Year in April 2010.
Newfoundland musician Alan Doyle's name also appears on the nominees' list this year. His video "Testify," directed by Margaret Malandruccolo and released by Skinner's Hill and Universal, has been nominated for Video of the Year.
Among other nominees, Carly Rae Jepsen is leading the pack. Looks like the Juno Awards knew Carly Rae Jepsen’s number.
The British Columbia-raised singer — whose monster single “Call Me Maybe” took the world by storm in 2012 — has landed a leading five nominations.
Jepsen was nominated for two prizes at the recent Grammy Awards but went home empty-handed.
At the Junos, she’ll vie for the fan choice award, single of the year, album of the year, artist of the year and pop album of the year.
Among her competition will be teen phenom Justin Bieber, who is also up for fan choice, best album, best artist and pop album.
Jepsen is also scheduled to sing at the Junos, which will be held in Regina on April 21 and hosted by Michael Buble.
Triple Juno nominees include Hedley, Metric, Marianas Trench and Leonard Cohen.
In addition to Bieber, Jepsen’s competition for artist of the year will be Deadmau5, Leonard Cohen and Johnny Reid.
Eight-time Juno winner k.d. lang will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the gala.
“Call Me Maybe” has achieved unprecedented success, topping charts in Canada, the U.S., New Zealand, Austria, France, Ireland, Denmark, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. It occupied the top spot in the U.S. for nine straight weeks
The Junos will air live on CTV.
