Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Peter Penashue was in St. John's today to announce the federal government will contribute funds towards a new pool house for Bannerman Park.

The federal government will provide $496,000 for work to renovate and expand the pool house, which will get a new filtration system and have fully accessible washrooms and change rooms.

The City of St. John's is set to invest just over $1 million in the project, in partnership with the Bannerman Park Foundation.

Penashue was joined by Mayor Dennis O'Keefe for the announcement.
