Eastern Health advises the public that the Hoyles Escasoni Complex in St. John’s and the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville are restricted to immediate family members only due to an increase in gastrointestinal illness.
Outpatient services at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, such as the emergency department, outpatient clinics, laboratory services, diagnostic imaging and blood collection, will continue as normal.
Immediate family members should contact the sites directly for further direction on visitation. The phone numbers to call are: Hoyles Escasoni Complex – (709) 752-8800; Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital – (709) 466-3411.
The public is asked not to visit any health-care facility if they feel ill or are experiencing flu-like or gastrointestinal symptoms. For infection prevention, the public is advised to wash their hands frequently, cover their coughs or sneezes with a tissue or the crook of their arms and refrain from touching their faces.
