There’s nothing better than a party — unless it’s a party for a good cause.

Shanneyganock, Repartee, Chris Kirby and the Marquee, Ian Foster, Mary Barry, Evry7th, Jerry Stamp, The Neighbourhood Strays Belly Dancers and John Sheehan are preparing to bring the party to the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre Saturday night for Stars for Warm Hearts.

Hosted by comedian Sheehan — perhaps best known for his appearances on CBC-TV’s “Republic of Doyle” and as the bayman in Capital Mitsubishi’s “Townie vs. Bayman” ads — the show will also feature video participation by the cast of “This Hour Has 22 Minutes,” Tara Oram, Brian Byrne of I Mother Earth, Karl Wells and more. Sheehan will also do a standup set.

Kirby and the Marquee, this time a full eight-piece band with a horn section and a fiddle, will perform songs from Kirby’s East Coast Music Award-nominated album, “Wonderizer,” with the Bishop Abraham Elementary School choir.

Welcoming music will be provided by trio Atlantic Union.

The show is part of The Telegram’s Warm Hearts campaign, now in its second year, for women and children who are victims of domestic violence.

All proceeds raised from the show will go to the campaign, which provides awareness, funds, and pyjamas and winter clothing for the residents at Iris Kirby House in St. John’s.

This year, The Telegram is also accepting donations of pennies for Warm Hearts, since they are no longer being minted. Since this year’s campaign began early last month, almost $4,000 in pennies has been collected, as well as hundreds of new items of clothing.

Tickets for Stars for Warm Hearts are $30 (tax and fees included), and are available by calling 729-3900 or going online at www.artsandculturecentre.com. They’ll also be available at the door. Showtime is 8 p.m.

An area will be designated at the show to collect pennies as well as pyjamas, blankets, housecoats, socks, slippers, underwear, hats, mittens and scarves in a range of women’s and children’s sizes (new items only, please). Tax receipts will be issued for monetary donations.

Visit The Telegram on Facebook or Twitter (@StJohnsTelegram) today for a chance to win a pair of tickets to Saturday’s Stars for Warm Hearts show.
