Man, woman charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle

Amanda Murphy, 27, of St. John’s and James Christopher Tyson, 20, of C.B.S. are facing charges after the RNC found a sawed-off shotgun in their vehicle during a traffic stop on Topsail Road in Mount Pearl about 2:30 a.m. today.

The charges against both include possession of a weapon dangerous to the public (sawed-off shotgun), possessing a loaded restricted firearm with ammunition, and driving knowing there was a firearm in the vehicle.

Murphy is also charged with possession of a restricted weapon and ammunition and breaching a court recognizance.

Tyson is also charged with mischief by attempting to mislead police.

The firearm was seized at the time of the alleged offences and the vehicle was impounded.

Following a court appearance today, both have been held in custody until Monday. The investigation is continuing.

    Priceless that her Facebook says she is looking for a 3 bedroom apartment ASAP. Hopefully she she will get that wish only for she will have many roommates, but I'm sure she already knows most of them and they will make her feel right at home. Hope you enjoyed that trip to Florida Amanda .... It was your last lol they don't allow those with robbery and weapons charges into the USA.

    Amanda murphy has a weapons ban already a long record history is up on charges alredy for theft how was she even release for the armed robbery if someone had ddone and armed robbery to a store they would have been held for trial and been sentenced how was she even released to pocess a shot gun? if she even as much as gets bail and does not get 3-5 year sentence then the cour system really is corrupt

    God bless the policeman, he was able to walk away.Some are not able to.
