A woman was allegedly caught with a weapon inside the lining of her purse as she was being processed at the city lock-up in St. John’s on Friday.
According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s overnight report, the weapon in question was a butterfly knife. Police said she was being processed at the lock-up of Her Majesty’s Penitentiary at approximately 5 p.m. on an unrelated matter.
The adult female has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of breaching a court order.
