Western Health announced Wednesday that visitor restrictions are now in place on the first floor of the Corner Brook Long-term Care Home.

According to a news release, the restrictions — related to the presence of an influenza-like illness — applies to both Raspberry Road and the protective care unit on Blueberry Crescent.

The regional health authority said exceptions may be made in the case of extenuating circumstances for immediate family members. They are asked to contact the facility before attempting to visit.

Visitor restrictions also remain in place for medicine units on the third floor of Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook.

Western Health advises that anyone with influenza symptoms such as coughing, fevers, a runny nose, and headaches is asked to avoid visits to its facilities.
