Busy night for RNC

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary had a busy 24 hours between early Thursday morning and this morning with 200 calls for service.

Here are some of the incidents reported:

• At 10 a.m. Thursday, RNC patrol services arrested a 53-year-old man in the Gear Street area of St. John*s under an outstanding Warrant. There was a number of breaches of court orders charges laid on the accused. He was conveyed to court.

Around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, RNC patrol officers arrested a 33-year- old female on an outstanding Canada wide arrest warrant in the area of Water Street west. She was held in custody until a court appearance.

Around 3:20 p.m. Thursday, RNC patrol officers responded to a business on Aberdeen Avenue in St. John's to a report of a fraud.

Police arrested two men from Quebec and charged them each with fraud, conspiracy, and identity theft. Both men were detained for court Friday morning.

Early Friday morning, RNC officers responded to a disturbance on George Street in St. John's. Two adult males, ages 21 and 22, were arrested for assault and causing a disturbance. They were held in custody until a court appearance.

The RNC was also kept busy overnight Thursday and into Friday morning with various accidents throughout the Northeast Avalon region.

The inclement weather caused many of the highways and streets to become extremely slippery. No injuries reported in RNC jurisdiction.

Motorists are reminded by the RNC to slow down while travelling our roadways in poor weather.

The RNC also responded to a vehicle fire in the area of Paddy's Pond. Police say it was not suspicious in nature and no injuries reported.
