Two Quebec men charged with fraud

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has arrested and charged two men from Quebec, 20 and 25 years of age,  with the following offences related to a complaint Thursday in the Stavanger Drive area of St. John’s:

• One count each of fraud;

• One count each of conspiracy to commit fraud;

• One count each of personation.

Both men were taken into custody and were expected to appear in provincial court Friday.

The RNC Economic Crime Unit is continuing to investigate and is seeking the assistance of the general public. Any companies selling electronic devices, such as cellular phones, are asked to contact the RNC if they have any information regarding the men, with a notable French accent, who either purchased or tried to purchase an electronic device at their place of business recently.

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). People can also provide information anonymously on the N.L. Crime Stoppers website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
