So I'm assuming that you think each municipality should have the taxpayers of the town only pay for new schools, hospitals, road work etc etc?We are part of something called a province and this type of project falls under the department of transportation and works. Lobster is a good name for the likes of you.

The Baymen pay less than half the property taxes than the residents of St. john's, Paradise, Mt. Pearl or CBS and then we have to front this? Shame on the government. Increase the Baymen's taxes so they are on par with ours. If this happened you wouldn't need a bridge because they would all move to town!

I'm not from the area either, but this something long over due. Congrats people of the placentia area. People complain that their tax dollars are going toward this bridge, I don't hear them complain about their tax dollars going to welfare recipients when a lot of those people could be working.

To NL LOBSTER: YOUR tax money is going to this bridge for the same reason EVERYBODY ELSE'S tax money pays for things in YOUR district. This is how public funding works. Do you drive without insurance too, I wonder?

After all the shagging around they basically saved nothing. What happened to 20 million over? Unbelievable. No wonder the province is in the hole.

Is there a road going to your town there NL Lobster. Good chance you are not paying your fair share of taxes anyway...thumbs down dude.

There are three or four fisherman that need the bridge raised during the fishing season. It would have been cheaper to move them or buy them out at 2 million a piece and put a regualr bridge in that does not have to lift and high enough for pleasure boats. It also requires 24-7 employee to sleep there and wait for a couple of boats every few months. That is a waste. What Idiots!

Why is my tax money going to build this bridge? I don't live in Placentia. These people should pay for their own bridge.

Holy!!! 40 million $$$$$$ to get from one side of Placentia to the other....I guess the tunnel across the Strait of Belle Isle is out of the question.....
