Local multi-media production company Best Boy Entertainment has struck a deal with the producers of “The Walking Dead” for a new movie.
Best Boy has acquired copyright and production rights to “They Never Left,” an action ghost thriller by America writer Patrick Hludzenski, produced by Circle of Confusion, which also produces “The Walking Dead.”
A year ago, Best Boy announced plans to produce up to three “genre” films a year — low-budget horror, thriller, action and sci-fi movies — using their new facility in Mount Pearl, which includes a 6,000-square-foot production studio, full lighting grid and gigantic green screen. The company is still seeking Canadian scripts for its genre film initiative.
“This is a big moment for the ongoing growth of our company, not to mention a moment of enormous pride,” said Best Boy founder and CEO Ed Martin in a media release. “Circle of Confusion is a great company, and we can only get better by virtue of our association with it, which we hope will be a long one.”
