The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating an armed robbery that happened Thursday afternoon in the east end of St. John’s.

According to a news release, the incident happened at Marie’s Mini Mart on Stavanger Drive. A male suspect entered the store carrying a weapon. He demanded cash and cigarettes before leaving. Police said a green sedan car may have been involved.

The man is described as 6-feet tall and 185 pounds, wearing a long sleeve black and white checkered shirt, jeans, and black gloves. His face was covered with a ski mask worn backwards with holes cut out for him to see through.

RNC officers with patrol services, the criminal investigation division, the K9 unit and the forensic identification section responded to the incident at approximately 2 p.m.
