Investigators would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident. This is aweful for those young boys. I wish them both a speedy and full recovery. Anne - are you serious? Ashamed to be from Newfoundland because of this disappointing attack. Keep the focus on what happened to these young boys and holding those responsible accountable. Unless you are living at the Vatican, I'm sure there is crime where you live as well. And to comment on the parenting skills of these children without knowing a thing. You should be ashamed of yourself, not of being from Newfoundland. Again, I wish these boys peace and community support as they recover. I have never commented on anything online before tonight, but felt compelled here, as you are completely missing the point of this article - to find the people responsible for this horrible attack and bring justice for these boys. I could tell you about all the great things happening here in St. John's, that I've seen since moving home after 10 years away, but again....not the time or place. God speed to these boys in the coming days and months as they heal.

Glad something got you to write in. Of course it goes without saying and writing a page of comments that it was awful for those boys to be beaten on. But the article is also about the crime. Yes, there is crime everywhere, but being a Newfoundlander, its hard to take when you see NL advertised as such a tourism spot and being peaceful and tranquil.

Maybe they should also be looking for witnesses to the beating of a young man by bouncers outside the Sundance a couple of weeks ago?

Anyone still think we don't need beat cops patrolling Water St. and surrounding downtown area on foot on a routine basis? 12:30 on a Thursday afternoon- lunch hour for Christ's sake! It's absolutely ridiculous this stuff is happening in the city of St. John's.

People, People, what in God's name is going on in St. John's.....We are hoping to return to St. John's for retirement, but now we have no idea of what to do about moving back. It is pretty scarey to see all of these crimes that has overcome the City. Now, this latest attack in the middle of the day, lunch hour, on Water Street, and where there had to be tons of people about. I am becoming so ashamed to say I am from Newfoundland. I thought the people from our Province had more pride and not become like the bigger cities in other Provinces. I guess this is what happens when you can't discipline the children anymore, at home or at school. I certainly don't mean for our children to be beat black and blue or with broken bones. This future isn't so great afterall.
