Eastern Health had trouble with its telephone service at several facilities over the weekend.

Issues with telephone lines were first reported by the regional health authority late Saturday afternoon, affecting 10 facilities in St. John’s, Placentia, Whitbourne, Grand Bank, and Clarke’s Beach. It also reported that some health and community services buildings were experiencing intermittent telephone coverage.

Telephone services were restored to those 10 facilities by Sunday morning. Eastern Health said Sunday that issues with phone service at the health and community services buildings were still being fixed and that it expected telephone coverage would be back to normal on Monday.

While the 10 health care facilities were dealing with telephone issues, Eastern Health was advising the public to contact a local ambulance service or to head straight to the emergency room in the event of a medical emergency, or to call the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s.
