A 37-year-old woman was arrested by the Gander RCMP after the vehicle she was driving struck a gas pump at the Esso Gas Station on the Trans Canada Highway in Gander about 1:30 a.m. Friday and left the scene.
The RCMP Gander were notified of a possible impaired driver following the accident and officers located the vehicle a short while later pulling into a private driveway, as the vehicle collided with the front steps of the residence.
The woman was transported to the Gander Detachment for a breath sample in which she was found to be more then twice the legal limit.
She was charged with operating while impaired and operation of a vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol.
The accused was released on a promise to appear in provincial court in Gander court in April.
She was also issued summary offence tickets under the Highway traffic Act for operating a vehicle without a licence, driving without registration or insurance, and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
